USA reporters praise German journalists for questioning Trump

Merkel opened by making an apparent dig at the new American president even as the two look to fix what has been a strained relationship during their meeting Friday in Washington.

Roeller: Our chancellor is coming to the United States to really explain how important it is, now only from the German perspective, also from the American perspective.

If we learned anything from his joint press conference with Theresa May earlier this year, it's that Trump is incapable of meeting with a foreign head of state without embarrassing himself and his country.

Trump had already been largely alone in trying to defend the allegation, which had been angrily denied by Obama and former aides like James Clapper, who was the nation's top spy during the previous administration.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel was allegedly none too pleased at the last minute cancellation of her meeting with President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on 20 February. Trump's embrace of Russian Federation, both as a candidate and as president, has further unnerved European leaders, who favors a tough approach to Moscow, including continued economic sanctions for its conduct in Ukraine.

Pakistan recall Kamran Akmal for Twenty20 and ODI series with West Indies
Former captain Azhar Ali is a big-name absentee from the ODI squad , having endured a lean run in the series loss in Australia. Chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq said in addition to recalls for some seniors, younger newcomers were also being given a chance.

Prior to going into their meeting, the ostensible allies appeared noticeably at odds during an Oval Office photo opportunity.

Trump had previously accused Merkel of "ruining" Germany with her pro-refugee policies and more internationalist worldview.

Trump's response was a blank stare into the cameras while he slightly shifted his head.

But jokes aside, there were several moments in the press conference that were serious attempts to pin down the president on his global worldview, and where Chancellor Merkel stood in position to that.

Asked if his isolationist economic policy is damaging both to United States and EU, Trump answered:"I don't believe in an isolationist policy, but the U.S. has been treated very, very unfairly and that has got to stop". Trump said via Twitter on Saturday (18 March).

ESPN's Field Yates reports ex-Cowboys and Broncos OLB DeMarcus Ware met with the Rams over the weekend before deciding to retire. The 34-year-old pass rusher took to Twitter Monday to announce his decision, saying he has "decided to accept the unknown".

The suggestion of the cases were criticized by Chinese, Mexican and Canadian officials in recent months.

The Justice Department said Friday that it had complied with congressional requests for information related to any surveillance during the 2016 election.

Last year, the US shipped almost $50 billion worth of goods to Germany and bought more than $114 billion in return, creating a trade deficit of almost $65 billion.

The two leaders did talk about NATO - Trump reaffirmed strong support for it and reiterated every member should pay their fair share, and Merkel spoke said Germany agreed to the need for "increasing expenditure" - but it was the wiretap that dominated headlines.

NATO members are supposed to contribute to 2% of GDP to the treaty, though Germany only contributes 1.2%.
