Theresa May rejects Nicola Sturgeon's call for indyref2

Scotland?s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon on Monday said she plans to seek approval to hold a second referendum on Scottish independence before the United Kingdom exits the European Union. But Sturgeon and her supporters have argued the Brexit vote changed all that since Scotland voted for Britain to remain in the European Union by 62 per cent in the June 2016 referendum.

However, it is understood that she is not ruling out a second referendum indefinitely, instead objecting to the First Minister's timetable.

Sturgeon accused May of failing to compromise during her discussions with SNP officials ahead of the Brexit process.

Ms Sturgeon has been seeking a deal that will allow Scotland to stay in the European single market and customs union.

However, she remarked that any agreement seems unlikely.

Pakistan recall Kamran Akmal for Twenty20 and ODI series with West Indies
Former captain Azhar Ali is a big-name absentee from the ODI squad , having endured a lean run in the series loss in Australia. Chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq said in addition to recalls for some seniors, younger newcomers were also being given a chance.

The first minister said she will now seek permission from the Scottish parliament to begin plans for another vote on independence referendum towards the end of the United Kingdom government's Brexit negotiations.

She tweeted: "Nicola Sturgeon has today chosen the path of further division and uncertainty".

The prime minister also said the country should be "working together, not pulling apart".

Scotland rejected independence by 55 per cent in a September 2014 vote and the British government says that settled the question.

Sturgeon argues that Brexit gives a very different context to the whole issue of independence.

President Trump to Host Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mar-A-Lago
During his presidential campaign, Trump repeatedly criticized China, arguing trade deals took jobs away from American workers. While he promised to formally label China as a currency manipulator on his first day in office, he has yet to do so.

But the leader of the Scottish Tories Ruth Davidson said her party will try to block the vote plans in the Holyrood chamber next week.

She said Brexit had meant that the "option of no change is no longer available", but that it was now for the Scottish people to "decide the nature of that change".

"Scotland stands at a hugely important crossroads", she told reporters in Edinburgh.

On the other hand, Sturgeon is keen on having the referendum before Brexit takes place to maximise the possibility of Scotland remaining or swiftly rejoining the bloc.

In a 2014 referendum, Scottish voters rejected independence by a margin of 55 per cent to 45 per cent, but Ms Sturgeon said that the UK's decision to leave the European Union had brought about a "material change of circumstances".

Iranian ships harass US Navy surveillance vessel twice in one week
The incident comes amid increasing tension between Iranian and U.S. forces in the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier, an Iranian vessel attempted to position itself between the Invincible and a British ship.

May has said she will fight for Britain as a whole, including Scotland, in the upcoming European Union negotiations and the government has held out the promise of more autonomous powers for Scotland as some areas of European Union control - such as agriculture and fisheries - are handed back to Britain.
