Toronto Raptors Star Kyle Lowry Will Likely Miss Remainder of Regular Season

According to an official statement released by the franchise on Monday afternoon, the Toronto Raptors will be without starting point guard Kyle Lowry for at least the remainder of the 2016-2017 regular season.

On Monday, the team announced that Lowry will undergo surgery "to remove loose bodies" from his right wrist and aims to return in time for the playoffs.

The Raptors are 35-24 and tied with the Wizards for third place in the Eastern Conference standings. Whether or not you can continue to roster Lowry will depend on whether you have an IR-spot, and how long your fantasy season goes, but 4-5 weeks rules Lowry out for the rest of the fantasy season some formats.

Toronto will likely need more than a first-round home court advantage to ensure an Eastern Conference Finals rematch with the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers.

Toronto is now tied with the Wizards for the third seed in the East. Crucially, the third seed would take on the Celtics in the second round of the playoffs-assuming both advance that far-while the fourth seed would face the Cavaliers.

Toronto should still make the playoffs even without Lowry for the next 23 regular season games.

The Raptors will certainly miss Lowry as they vie for one of the top spots in the East. His absence will be felt by the Raptors going forward.
