Donald Trump Polls: Approval Rating Hits Record Low Amid Growing Russia Scandal

A poll this weekend from NBC News/Wall Street Journal found that just 44 percent of those surveyed approve of Trump's performance to date, while 48 percent disapprove. Only 43% have a positive view of Trump - up from the low points of the campaign, but still far below the standing of most new presidents.

NBC noted it took Trump just a month to be assessed negatively by American voters, while it was almost three years into the first term of former President Barack Obama before his approval ratings dropped below 50 percent and into the fourth year of the first term of former President George W. Bush before his favorable ranking dipped below half of the American electorate.

A 52 percent majority calls early challenges the Trump White House has faced unique to his administration and an indication of real problems.

Trump is not your typical president, so the polls will be a something of a checkered report card. Republicans hold enough seats in the House and Senate to answer his call for repealing and replacing Obamacare and overhauling the tax system without help from Democrats.

Students urged to exercise caution in light of 19 possible mumps cases
Before there was a vaccine for it, mumps was a common childhood disease with over a hundred thousand cases per year. Public health officials have been urging Canadians to make sure their vaccinations are up to date.

As the report went on to add, most other presidents have seen high ratings early on in their first term, a honeymoon of sorts when Americans are more willing to give them a chance.

"The so-called angry crowd in home districts of some Republicans are actually, in numerous cases, planned out by liberal activists", Trump tweeted February 21. But some intra-party unease shows up when Americans are asked who they want taking the lead on national policy.

Trump's personal favorability rating stands at 85 percent positive among Republicans, compared to just 34 percent positive among independents and nine percent among Democrats.

While polling as to who is more trustworthy is mixed (see here and here), clearly the public views the media's attacks on Trump as biased and unfair.

7 things to know about those $65 fares to Europe
There's been a wide-ranging welcome for the announcement of two new low cost services from Shannon to the USA this summer. In the end, however, the outgoing Obama administration cleared the application. "These new flights are a starting point".

Fifty-one percent of Americans said the media is too critical of Trump, while 41 percent think news organizations have been fair and objective.

By historical standards, Mr. Trump has fared well on his pick to fill a Supreme Court vacancy. Forty-one percent said they expect the economy to get better, versus just 21 percent who expect it to get worse and 36 percent who expect the economy to stay the same. Other polls released in recent weeks indicated the majority of Americans were "embarrassed" by their commander-in-chief, saying he wasn't level-headed and remained unconcerned with everyday Americans.

A plurality of Americans, 41%, continue to believe that the US economy will improve, a postelection shift that followed three years in which most Americans expected economic prospects to remain stagnant.
