Tuchel wary of Benfica test

Germany's World Cup victor Mario Goetze has been left out of Borussia Dortmund's squad for Tuesday's Champions League last 16, first-leg, clash against Benfica.

They have only lost once in that time - Saturday's defeat by Darmstadt - but Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel is hoping for a convincing win in Portugal to revive their campaign. They hardly let the hosts out of their own half and created five clear cut chances, including a penalty, to grab a vital away goal.

Though BVB have impressed in the Champions League this season, they haven't made it past the last 16 since 2013-14 and, with the German Cup their only other chance of silverware this term, the competition has taken on even greater significance than usual. He's 32, but he is still one of the most consistent strikers in Europe.

Borussia Dortmund have qualified for the Champions League knockout stages in each of their last four participations, finishing top on each occasion. We will test him tomorrow and see where we are.

However, domestically Dortmund have struggled this season and head into the clash in Lisbon on the back of a 2-1 Bundesliga defeat to rock-bottom Darmstadt. "If he recovers, he's in; if not, someone else plays", said Vitoria.

Benfica captain Luisao was making his 500th club appearance and was kept busy at the heart of the Benfica defence, with Dembele sneaking into the box and forcing a superb save from keeper Ederson in the 23rd.

Donald Trump-like coloured gator known as 'Trumpgator' puzzles SC crowds
Residents of a small SC town have been left shocked by a strangely-coloured visitor bathing in a local beauty spot. Much like a bad fake tan, the alligator is expected to soon shed its skin and its orange tone.

"It is an extremely complicated result, but I am very proud of how we played tonight", he added. "That's football, when you play so well, yet still walk off as losers".

Aubameyang had missed two other great opportunities with shots from inside the area, one in each half, and Ousmane Dembele almost scored in the first half when his close-range shot was blocked in front of the goal.

Benfica's formation looks like one that can hold up relatively well against it, but they will have to be at their absolute best to make sure they can hold Dortmund off and get something out of this.
