Officials take down Nevada medical marijuana portal

Each application, eight pages in length, includes the person's full name, home address, citizenship, and even their weight and height, race, and eye and hair color.

Nevada's medical marijuana application system has exposed the personal information of thousands of patients, the Daily Dot has learned.

Nevada's Department of Health and Human Services confirmed that the personal details - including addresses and social security numbers - of more than 11,000 applicants were accessible by simply typing in the correct URL.

Holiday storm sweeps through Dakotas, Minnesota; roads close after freezing rain
Almost 20,000 customers of the South Dakota Rural Electric Association were without power as of Monday afternoon, according to AP. North Dakota's transportation department closed most of a 240-mile stretch of Interstate 94 from the Montana border to Jamestown.

We left a number of voicemails of applicants prior to publication.

The unsecured database, discovered by medical-industry security researcher Justin Schafer, remains exposed a week after the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH), which operates the portal, brought the system back online after a security "problem" forced the agency to take it down December 8.

But it's not immediately clear how many years the applications date back. "The leaked information made up a "'portion' of one of several databases", the report notes.

Savage has been with Houston for awhile, but never got the chance to start, despite shaky quarterback play the past few seasons. Lamar Miller missed his first game this season because of an ankle injury and Blue had 73 yards rushing in his place.

Mr. Schafer said he discovered the bug after a simple Google search Tuesday evening resulted in him stumbling upon a trove of unsecured data maintained by the state's Medical Marijuana Program.

In accordance with state law, applicants will be notified of the leak officially within a few days.

In the most recent election cycle, the Silver State joined California, Massachusetts and ME in legalizing the drug for recreational purposes. As for those whose information was included in the massive leak, hopefully nobody shows up at their front door looking for a quick fix or a friendly discount.
