Chuck Liddell to Appear on Upcoming Season of Dancing with the Stars

UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell will be appearing in the upcoming ninth season of Dancing with the Stars on ABC.
“I want to win,” Liddell told UFC.com. “I don’t like losing in anything, so I’ll work as hard as they’ll let me.”
Liddell will be the first mixed martial arts fighter to appear on the show.
“I’m gonna go out, be myself, and show what kind of people we have in this sport,” said Liddell. “I’m sure the reaction will be mixed (among fight fans). My friends are gonna be excited and I’ll never hear the end of it because they’ll make fun of me, but it should be fun and I think everyone will like it.”
Liddell, who lost four of his last five bouts, is coming off a knockout loss to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua this past April at UFC 97.
UFC President Dana White has insisted that Liddell retire following the loss to Rua, but the 39 year-old Liddell is still considering a return to the Octagon.
“They asked me a couple different times, but it would be too much time to take off from training for fights,” said Liddell. “Now I don’t have any fights coming up and I’m not training, so it’s something to do.”
Dancing with the Stars season 9 premieres Monday, September 21, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
